I jinxed myself!

My previous blog was about my "trooper."  Well, today, Luca woke up unhappy and not feeling well.  He refused to take his Tylenol which he's always loved taking medicine but all day he didn't want anything to do with it.  He also didn't want to drink anything.  He ran a fever of 100.9 which the doctor mentioned a low-grade fever is normal.  We had to put his medicine in a syringe and basically inject it in his mouth.  He gagged, spit and choked, it was awful.  I was so happy that he was doing so well and today he just was in pain, poor guy.  I really hope he gets better tomorrow.  Corey has training oot tomorrow until Wednesday and I'm very nervous if he continues this and I'll be on my own. I just want him to feel better soon!

On a lighter note, Olivia has been cracking us up with her little comments.  She is such a hyper little girl and is always so happy and full of energy.  Corey has an app on his Droid of this little kitty that purrs, drinks milk and repeats everything you say in a high pitched voice.  She was playing with it and grabbed her foot and put it by the phone and said "Hey Kitty Cat, look at my shoes!"  I also took her to the park with her friends and in the car ride home she kept saying "Hey guys, come on!"  She was repeating what she was saying to her friends.  It's fun to watch her at the park.  She makes friends so easily, especially with other little girls.  She also loves little kids that are smaller than her and likes to hold their hands and pretend they are a baby.  She's doing much better in her toddler bed.  Sometimes during naptime she will take her pillow, blankets and baby on the floor and naps there.

Such a little trooper!

Luca got his tonsils removed on Friday.  We were so proud of him.  He did such a great job going into the surgery.  He was actually pretty excited about going.  It's pretty odd, but he really enjoys going to the doctors office.  He told Corey "The doctor is going to take my testicles out tomorrow." The two pictures were taken a few days before his surgery.

The morning of his surgery he wasn't able to eat or drink anything.  I thought it was going to be tough because he usually is pretty hungry in the morning but I think he was so excited that he didn't even ask us for anything to eat or drink.  When they called Luca in for his pre-op at the clinic, we changed him into a gown and they did some routine things like checked his heart, temperature, and blood pressure.  Then they gave him Tyelnol with some medication to relax him.  He seemed like he was high as a kite within minutes of taking it.  He was so funny and laughing and just staring at the ceiling.  He kept looking under the bed for me, it was funny and definitely helped relax us.  By the time the anesthetist came to get him he didn't even cry or anything.  Even though he was only going for a small procedure I was still so nervous.  The procedure was only 20 minutes and the doctor told us that his tonsils were very large and that he thought this was definitely going to help with his breathing.  When we went to get Luca he was crying and wanted to take the IV out of his foot.  They let us take him in a room with a tv w/cartoons on to see if that would help calm him.  He just kept telling us he wanted to go home but they wouldn't let him go without him drinking a little bit.  He wouldn't drink anything.  We finally had to just take a syringe and force it so we could take him home.  They gave him a teddy bear before the surgery even though we had his favorite monkey but when we left he did NOT want to take the bear with him.  The nurse said he wanted to leave that memory here and not take it with him :(  Once we got him in the car he fell asleep.  He took a small nap on the couch and watched Toy Story Three and has been doing great ever since!  Every night Corey and I will cover up the kids before we go to bed and we were amazed that Luca wasn't snoring for the first time!!! It made a difference so quickly.

This picture was taken today.  The kids asked if they could eat their lunch outside.  I am so shocked that Luca is eating!  I thought for sure he wasn't going to eat anything for a few days but he's back to his normal 3 year old self which makes us so happy!
Thanks to everyone who has asked or sent well wishes for Luca.  It really means a lot to us.  Even though it was a minor procedure, it was pretty serious for us so thank you for your calls, FB messages and texts.

Part 2

Blogger is killing me today so this is a continuation of the previous post since it won't let me upload any more pics for some reason! I will continue to post more pics tomorrow but this is taking me forever to upload since it will only let me do one at a time!

Happy 2nd Birthday Olivia!

I can't believe my little girl is two years old! We absolutely adore her and love her so much. I love seeing her grow and learn new things everyday, although I would love to freeze time for many reasons.   I love how much affection she shows us and her sweet little voice when she says "I love you!" I love how she wakes up so happy in the morning and always in a great mood. I love her giggles. I love her smile.I love the energy she has. I love watching her follow and imitate her brother.  I love how intently she listens. I could go on and on but I love everyt little thing about her and am so grateful she is in our lives. This is why I love to make her and Luca feel so special on their Birthdays. Even though they will never remember this they will see pictures and I want them to know that I think the world of them and want to show them that on their Birthdays.

I decided to do a purple butterfly theme for her birthday and I went a little purple crazy!  I couldn't believe how much stuff I found at Hobby Lobby!  I made the banner myself and even made the cake pops and butterfly cookies on my own, too.
I really wanted to have purple lemonade and was tempted to put food coloring in it.  Corey told me I should've  just bought grape kool-aid.
I love my cake lady - she does an amazing job.
I actually catered all the food by myself!
I was going for  healthier foods than I normally do for parties.

Fruit Kabobs
My friend Melissa gave me this amazing recipe for Corn and Black Bean Salsa.  It's amazing!  I added avocados and red pepper to make it my own version and it was a hit!
Family Shot
Thank you Mary for making the subs for me! :)
I LOVED her outfit!  I had my eye on this outfit at a little baby boutique shop at the mall that was crazy expensive.  The 1st time I saw it I wanted to buy it but when I saw the price I said NO WAY! Then after Easter it was on clearance and they had a 2T...so it was a sign that I had to buy it!
Uncle Leo wore purple! How cute!

The kids table
Gabri wore a purple butterfly shirt to go with the theme, too!

Two Years Ago today....

Wow, I was big! I remember this day so well. I was 3 days overdue and was so ready to meet my baby girl. I was supposed to be induced the next morning and be at the hospital at 7am but little Olivia decided she would come on her own terms and I started going into labor at 2am the next morning. I can't believe my little girl will be 2 tomorrow. I am so incredibly happy to have this little girl in my life and I can't wait to celebrate her big day with her tomorrow!

Moving on Up!

Olivia has climbed out of the crib probably around 6 months ago, but when she climbed out then she hurt herself and never climbed out after that...until yesterday.  I put her down for a nap and she's normally a good napper but yesterday she was blabbing away and was playing in her crib instead of taking a nap.  I was in the kitchen mopping my floors and I heard a big thump and little foot steps coming down the stairs.  I was thinking it was Luca, but nope, it was Olivia!  I asked her to show me how she did it and video taped it.  Everytime she would get out she would say "Again!"  She did it about 15 times so Corey converted her crib to a toddler bed.  It really makes me sad that she's growing up so fast.  I have to say it was really cute when she woke up this morning and came in to our room.  I love my sleep, but I don't mind waking up at 6:30am  when Luca comes in our room in a good mood and will lay with us and watch cartoons.  Luca is really sweet, too.  He'll rub my back and play with my hair and give corey and I kisses and tell us he loves us.  I'm hoping Olivia will do this, too! :)

Luca is getting his tonsils out!

We finally took Luca to an ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) doctor today.  Since he was born, we've noticed it always seems like he has a hard time breathing.  At first, we thought maybe he was allergic to our dog, Bianca.  We did notice a difference once we gave away Bianca, but he still would breathe out of his mouth instead of his nose.  He also had strep throat twice, his tonsils are huge, and when Corey and I go to cover him up before we go to bed we notice that it seems like he has sleep apnea.  He snores and his breathing pattern is off which disrupts his sleep.  Anyway...the doctor determined that he needs his tonsils and Adenoids removed which is an outpatient surgery that only lasts 20 minutes.  He will be getting anesthesia and he said the recovery is about a week, so Luca will have to drink lots of fluids and popsicles.   So please send positive vibes to the universe for Luca on the date of his surgery, June 24th! :)

Erin's Bachelorette Party Part One

My friend, sorority sister, and former roommate, Erin is getting married on July 9th. Her Bachelorette Party was this past weekend and we went zip-lining! It was such a great time!

I didn't realize what a great ab work out this was going to be.  If you wanted to go faster you had to lift your legs up and my abs are really sore!
My helmet kept falling off my head even though it was on the tightest level, my head was just too small for the helmet.  From left to right it's me, Erin's sister & maid of honor JoAnne, Erin (the bride to be) and Kerry my other rommie from college and sorority sister.
We had to cross 4 of these bridges - what a blast.  I've never zip-lined before and I loved it!
I have to download the other pics from the 2nd party of the B-party from my other camera!

Summer, Summer, Summer Time!

The kids hung out with their cousins on this beautiful day!

Olivia in her cute little bathing suit.  She's so stinking cute in her suits.  She loves the pool and is always telling me "I wanna go to the pool, I don't like the gym."  Our pool is at the gym and it's wonderful b/c we can put the kids in the daycare for up to 2 hours but we usually only have them there for one hour so we can relax at the pool and then we bring them out. But even though she likes the daycare (gym) she prefers to go to the pool.
I couldn't get a shot with both of them looking.  They are getting a good base tan for the summer!

This little guy is such a deep thinker...yesterday he was talking to Corey and he said "when I was a baby I was in Momma's belly, but I don't know how I came out?"  It's funny that he was thinking about how he came out.  Then today he said "Did I come out of here?" (he was pointing to my belly button) I just told him that the Doctor got him out.  We also live by the river so the other day Corey was driving and he asked him "How do boats get in the water?"  I think he's asking some great questions at the age of 3!
